2021 Demo Reel

A compilation of projects through 2021.

curious by nature

The 2021 North Carolina State Science and Engineering Fair went virtual amid the COVID-19 Pandemic. With reduced access to school resources, 65% fewer students entered the competition. Despite these challenges, four students completed impactful research in the hopes of competing at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) and positively impacting their local community and environment.

This project was created in collaboration with S'well as a part of filmmaker Alicia Carter's graduate thesis. I joined the project halfway through filming. I filmed, edited, and created the animations that were used within the video and posted by S'well.

seeding the sea

Where fishermen were once able to catch over 100 pounds of fish in one day off the coast of Belize, now they can barely catch a fraction of that. Seaweed farming offers a more sustainable alternative for both the economy and the environment. Lowell Godfrey has grown up in Placencia, and now has his own seaweed farm that he hopes will show other fishermen that they can make their livelihood in a sustainable way.

This documentary is part of a larger project that involves a written component, interactive graphics, photo stories, and more. The full project, Barriers, has four other stories focused on environmental storytelling in Placencia, Belize.
